Vivek Kundra - Innovation Embodied

Passion, intellect, decisiveness, flair and creativity all with a knack for efficiency. . .If anything were described as such it most likely sounds too good to be true in today's world, yet if that is the stance you take you may need to reconsider. Working as chief technology officer on "The Hill," Vivek Kundra is just such a person who exhibits said traits.

Kundra approaches technology with a quirky but intriguing blend of technological savvy and anthropological insight, and he does so with the good of the public in mind. He has gone so far as to invite the public to create applications for both the Web and cellphones in order that the District have snappier access to data, including crime reports and pothole repair schedules. Kundra has utilized YouTube for healthy competition in securing fair-price city contracts and is all for utilizing Facebook to pay for parking tickets and renew driver's licenses.

Vivek Kundra has a unique vision for technology along with a no-nonsense approach. If Kundra feels a project is not holding its own he cuts ties and reinvests the money elsewhere. Kundra knows tax-payer money is limited and should be stretched for all its worth. This mindframe includes getting others to contribute as well; Kundra engaged such companies as Microsoft, Dell and Intel to contribute a combined million dollar donation to benefit a local public school.

Kundra sees a picture that few see. He is the one actually creating "the cutting edge." Simply put, Vivek Kundra is innovation embodied.
